Race Details:

  REGISTRATION INFORMATION

ALL CARS MUST BE REGISTERED THE DAY OF THE RACE AND MUST PASS INSPECTION TO BE ENTERED (REFERENCE RACE RULES)

All cars must be registered by noon to be entered in the race

There will be a "work" station for minor adjustments if needed to pass inspection

RACE TIMES

Note: All race times are approximate. You do not have to be present to race or win.

  • 1:00 pm: TIGERS: TROPHIES awarded at 2:00 pm or when all tigers have complete the race
  • 2:30 pm: WOLF/BEARS: TROPHIES awarded at 3:30 pm or when all WOLF/BEARS have complete the race
  • 4:30 pm: WEBELOS: TROPHIES awarded at 5:30 pm or when all WEBELOS have complete the race
  • SIBLINGS: Immediately following the WEBELOS awards
  • ADULTS: Immediately following Siblings (no awards; only bragging rights)

  • EVERYONE WHO ENTERS WILL RECEIVE AN AWARD
  • TIGERS: 1st, 2nd, 3rd PLACE in Speed and in Showmanship
  • WOLF/BEARS: 1st, 2nd, 3rd PLACE in Speed and in Showmanship
  • WEBELOS: 1st, 2nd, 3rd PLACE in Speed and in Showmanship
  • 18 TOTAL WINNERS' TROPHIES

 DEN CHAMPIONSHIP TROPHY

  • A DEN NEEDS 3 SCOUTS ENTERED IN RACE TO QUALIFY
  • 3 FASTEST SPEEDS FROM EACH DEN ARE AVERAGED
    • NOTE: THE MORE SCOUTS FROM YOUR DEN WHO ENTER, THE  BETTER THE CHANCES OF HAVING 3 FAST CARS
  • ALL SCOUT NAMES FROM THE WINNING DEN ARE INCLUDED ON THE CHAMPIONSHIP TROPHY
  • EACH SCOUT ENTERED FROM WINNING DEN WILL RECEIVE AN INDIVIDUAL DEN TROPHY TO KEEP
  • THE WINNING DEN KEEPS CHAMPIONSHIP TROPHY UNTIL END OF YEAR THEN RETURNS FOR NEXT YEARS' RACE

DISTRICT RACE

  • DISTRICT RACE ONLY INCLUDES TWO LEVELS
  • TIGER CUBS & CUB SCOUTS (COMBINATION OF WOLF, BEAR, AND WEBELOS)
  • THE PACK WILL DETERMINE WHICH CARS ADVANCE FROM THE WOLF/BEAR AND WEBELOS RANKS TO THE DISTRICT RACE FOR SHOWMANSHIP

REFRESHMENTS

  • Concessions sold throughout the day with all proceeds going directly to Pack 530
  • Concessions typically include: Donuts, juice, coffee and hot chocolate in the morning and pizza, chips, candy and soft drinks in the afternoon
  • Come hungry!

Some Key Points to Remember:

  • You must use the axles that come with the kit: No lathe turned or solid one piece axles will be allowed
  • All four wheels must contact track, i.e. turn when rolled on a flat surface
  • Modifications to wheels are not allowed (other than removal of ridges)

Things to do in January/February

Snow Tubing at Scaly Mountain. Must be 42 inches or taller and 4 years old to ride. Kiddie slope open for young tubers. Snow availability depends on the weather -- call or check the website before going. www.scalymountain.com. 828-526-3737

Movies and More. January 29, 2010. 6 pm - Midnight. Rhodes Jordan Park Community Center. Beat the wihter blues and join us for a night of entertainment. enjoy inflatables and crafts until 6:30 pm -- then stay for a family friendly movie in the gym. Concessions available for a small fee. Sealed with a Kiss. February 1 - 11, 2010. Drop in from 10 am to 6 pm. Rhodes Jordan Community Center. make and take Valentine cards for your family and friends. For each card you make you will create an extra card for Senior meals on Wheels recepients! Ages 5 and up. $1 per card (Meals on Wheels cards are free!). Call 770-822-5414.
